Who These Articles Are For

Patients exploring functional medicine and wanting to understand the clinical thinking behind specific protocols and recommendations. People comparing conventional and functional medicine approaches for a condition they or a family member is facing. Practitioners seeking clinical reference material on functional medicine topics.

These articles are companion reading to the Medical Conditions Library. Where the conditions library maps what a condition is, these articles explain how we think about specific clinical questions inside those conditions.

Why These Articles Exist
The same questions come up in consultations over and over again. What labs should I ask for? Are bioidenticals actually safer than synthetics? Does low dose naltrexone really work? What do I do about SIBO if rifaximin did not help? Instead of explaining the same mechanisms and evidence base in every consultation, I wrote them down. These articles reflect how I actually think about these questions with patients, and how I decide what to do.
