We Built This Clinic Because Patients Deserved Better

In 2007, Brian Lamkin, DO opened The Lamkin Clinic in Edmond, Oklahoma with a straightforward conviction: patients deserve a physician who has the time, the tools, and the training to actually solve their problems not just manage them.

Conventional medicine, as Dr. Lamkin saw it, had become a system optimized for speed and volume. Fifteen-minute appointments. Symptom-suppressing prescriptions. Lab results called “normal” when the patient sitting across the desk felt anything but. Insurance protocols that dictated care before the physician even entered the room.

That wasn’t medicine. It was maintenance.

So Dr. Lamkin built something different. A cash-based practice with no insurance constraints, no rushed appointments, and no cookie-cutter protocols. A place where the starting point is always the same question: what is actually causing this and how do we fix it?

The Lamkin Clinic is not a conventional medical office. We don’t bill insurance, we don’t see 30 patients a day, and we don’t hand you a prescription and send you home.

Dr. Brian Lamkin is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with more than 17 years of clinical experience in functional medicine, hormone optimization, peptide therapy, and longevity science. He founded The Lamkin Clinic in Edmond, Oklahoma in 2007 and has built it into the region’s most recognized functional medicine practice.

Your First Visit

Most patients who come to The Lamkin Clinic have already been through the conventional system. They’ve seen the specialists, run the standard labs, and been told everything looks fine. They’re frustrated, and they’re skeptical.

That’s okay. Here’s what happens when you come to us:

We listen first. Your first appointment is longer than you’re used to. We want to understand your full health history, your symptoms, your goals, and what you’ve already tried. Nothing is dismissed.

We run the right tests. Standard labs miss a lot. We use advanced diagnostics that give us a complete picture of your hormones, metabolic function, body composition, and more.

We build your protocol. Based on what we find, Dr. Lamkin designs an individualized treatment plan not a template. Your protocol is built around your biology, your goals, and your life.

We track and adjust. Functional medicine is not a one-time fix. We monitor your progress, adjust your protocol as your body responds, and stay engaged with your care over time.

Why We Don’t Accept Insurance

This is the question we get most often and it deserves a straight answer.

Insurance companies don’t practice medicine. But when a physician accepts insurance, they effectively let insurers dictate how long appointments can be, which tests can be ordered, and which treatments are covered. The result is care designed around reimbursement codes rather than patient outcomes.

We opted out of that system so we could opt into something better unhurried appointments, advanced diagnostics, and individualized protocols that insurance would never approve but that actually work.

Our patients don’t pay for office visits. They invest in outcomes. That distinction matters.
